How do I calculate the subtitle delay I need?+

Note roughly how many seconds your subtitles appear too early or too late, then enter that number above. If subtitles show up before the dialogue is spoken, they are "early" and need a positive delay. If they linger after the dialogue, they are "late" and need a negative offset (they must move earlier).

What does a positive vs negative subtitle offset mean?+

A positive offset delays the subtitles — every cue appears later by that amount. A negative offset makes subtitles appear earlier. Most sync tools, including DramaSub's sync tool, accept both positive and negative values in milliseconds.

My subtitles start fine but drift out of sync later. Will a delay fix that?+

No — constant delay fixes subtitles that are uniformly early or late. Progressive drift means the file was timed for a different frame rate. Use a frame rate converter (for example 23.976 → 25 fps) instead of a fixed offset.
